In the city of Verona, Lord Capulet is talking with a colleague of the prince, Paris, about Paris's desire to marry Juliet Capulet. Lord Capulet feels she is too young being only 13, but Paris is unsure and Lord Capulet ends up inviting him to a feast at his home. Lord Capulet gives the list of all the people he wishes to invite to his servant who can not read and sends him off. The servant has no idea how he is suppose to find these people without having the ability to read and that's when Romeo and Benvolio walk by discussing Romeo's issues with Rosaline. The servant asks Romeo to read the list out loud and to Romeo's surprise he reads the name of the woman of his heart, Rosaline. As thanks, the servant invites Romeo and Benvolio to the feast as well not knowing that they are of the Montague family.
Prompt C: Question on the scene
Why would the servant invite two random strangers to his master's feast?
Benvolio: What are you gonna do next? Will you go to the party?
Paris: Will you take Lord Capulet's advice? Why are you in such a rush?
Prompt E:Image
I chose the image of Cupid firing a bent arrow because it shows the situation in Romeo's and Paris's love life. Romeo loves Rosaline but the action is not returned, just like a crooked arrow firing and only hitting one person. Paris wants to marry Juliet but Lord Capulet believes she is too young, shattering the young man's dreams as if he was shot in the heart by an arrow.
I like how your image of the bent arrow fits your title for the section you did of Act 1 Scene 2! Also, the summary is very clear to understand of what happened in this scene.
ReplyDeleteYour summary for Act 1 Scene 2 was very descriptive of the main events and gave a clear overview of the scene. In your response to prompt "E", what did you mean when you said, "... just like a crooked arrow firing and only hitting one person."?
ReplyDeleteI like how you used the concept of archery to describe love for Promt F.
ReplyDeleteI like your use of the picture to represent the scene, I think it was pretty clever. Something that you could improve are your questions. I think they are good questions to ask, but your wording and how you asked them makes them pretty vague questions. Other than that, you did a good job!
