1.3 A World Not Wanted

PROMPT A
When Juliet's parents decide to throw a party to help her find a suitable husband, Juliet realizes that she doesn't want to get married. As the plans for the party become more difficult, everyone becomes stressed out. The nurse that works with the Capulet family goes on to tell Juliet why she must get married and expresses her own experiences of being so. Juliet's mother decides that Paris is the best husband for Juliet and chooses him as the one Juliet she must get married to. When Juliet tells her mother that she does not want the life of a married woman, her mother tries to convince Juliet by telling her that she is already late in getting married and is lucky that she is still able to. Because Juliet is against getting married, the act to get her to marry Paris becomes more difficult.

PROMPT B
The theme for this chapter is that sometimes you must do something for others even though it may affect you.

PROMPT E
The image below is a picture of a kid that does not want to eat his veggies. Even though these foods are good for him and he should eat them, he doesn't want to have to. This is like this chapter of Romeo and Juliet because Juliet doesn't want to get married. Even though it will be beneficial to her and her family, she is still against doing so.

  2. For Prompt B: Do you think that it is a good thing or a bad thing? Is it worth the risk? Your summary was very to the point and descriptive. Nice Job!

  3. Your symbolic picture fits really well with your section of Act 1 Scene 3! It truly shows Juliet's stubbornness of not wanting to get married even though it is something that it is needed to be done.

  4. I disagree with the image that you chose because while eating vegetables will ultimately only benefit the person consuming them, marrying Paris will bring more money into the Capulet family and not benefit Juliet much at all.

    1. Isn't bringing more money to the family a benefit itself?

  5. I really like your image. I think you did a good job finding it and connecting it to the story. The kid is a good metaphor for Juliet not wanting to eat his veggies. You also did a good job writing your summary. Keep up the good work!
