3.1 Death Comes Too Quickly

Prompt A: Benvolio and Mercutio are talking, when suddenly Benvolio sees Tybalt and some servants. Tybalt promptly asks where Romeo is, because he believe he has a beef to settle with him. Tybalt is angry because Romeo came to the Capulet's party, when he was not invited. Mercutio and Tybalt start to argue until Romeo appears. Romeo does not want to fight Tybalt, so he calmly explains he meant no harm. Mercutio takes this the wrong way, and starts to fight Tybalt. They duel, and Mercutio gets stabbed and fatally wounded. Romeo goes into rage, and kills Tybalt. Benvolio then explains to the Prince what happend. The Prince then procedes to banish Romeo from Verona.

Prompt B: Be careful how you interrupt things.

Prompt E:

I choose this image because it accurately represents how Mercutio did not understand Romeo. Some people say 'lol' as 'laugh out loud', while other people say it as 'lots of love'. Romeo as trying to make the anger go away without violence, but instead, Mercutio thought it meant for him to fight.

  1. You image is very creative. However, it is also very accurate. There are many different interpretations of 'lol,' and it can easily be misunderstood, just like Mercutio misunderstands Romeo's attempts to stop the fighting.

  2. I never would have thought an "lol" face would in any way be related to an old, famous Shakespeare work of art. You made a strong point that Mercrutio did not fully understand Romeo's words and meanings.
