3.2 Fatal Misunderstandings

Prompt A:
While Juliet waits for nightfall in the balcony, the nurse suddenly comes and tells her about the fight between Tybalt and Romeo. But the nurse was so upset that she messes with the story. Juliet hears about Romeo's death and starts contemplating about suicide. The nurse start mumbling about Tybalt's death and Juliet assumes that both Rome and Tybalt are dead. Juliet becomes distraught when she learns that Romeo is being sent into exile because he killed Tybalt. She thinks about her life without a husband. The nurse calms her down when she says she knows where Romeo is hiding.

Prompt B:
You never truly know a person if you only choose to believe a part of  his character.

Prompt G:
Dear Diary,
Am I a bad person for loving a man I have known for a week more than a man who shares my blood?
I guess Tybalt got what he deserved and Romeo acted purely on rage. He was not thinking straight. No one can blame him. His cousin, Mercutio, means so much to him and seeing him lying on the cement, dying! I hurt as much as he is hurting now for our souls are bound with love and matrimony. But what will happen to me if he goes on exile? I will die a maidenhead. I never thought I would need a man to live.

  1. Chin,

I like how you sided with Romeo instead of Tybalt in your diary because I too feel that Juliet favors Romeo much more than her cousin Romeo, as her discussion with her mother implies. For prompt B, who does your theme apply to in this scene?

  2. Chin,

I agree with your prompt G. It seems like you are saying that Juliet does not care about Thybalt's death but rather Romeo. Even though they share the same blood, her love for Romeo is far more superior than any fact she knows right now and she is even risking her life for his love to her.
