Prompt A:
Paris visits the Capulet's burial vault to bring Juliet some flowers. Soon after, Romeo and Balthasar enter the vault and are confronted by Paris, who provokes Romeo into dueling. Romeo kills Paris and then sets his corpse next to Juliet's "dead" body in her tomb. Overwhelmed with emotions, Romeo gives his love one last kiss before drinking his poison and dying moments after. Unfortunately, Romeo has the worst timing ever, and Juliet awakens mere seconds after Romeo commits suicide. Upon seeing Romeo's dead body, Juliet is overcome with grief and stabs herself with Romeo's own daggar. At this point, the townspeople have awoken, and are spreading rumors of death around the town, leading to the Prince, Capulets, and Montagues to show up at the vault, concerned about the well-being of their children. Friar Lawrence tells the tale of Romeo and Juliet and gives the news of their deaths. Not wanting any more deaths to come because of their long-lasting hatred, the Montagues and Capulets make peace and vow to never become enemies again.
Prompt C:
1.Why does Romeo get a sudden surge of happiness before he kills himself?
2.Why is the Capulet's burial vault open for people to visit/enter? Shouldn't it be closed up for health and privacy reasons?
3. Balthasar, why didn't you go try to get help, but instead hid in the burial vault?
4.Capulets and Montagues, will your peace last?
5. Capulets and Montagues, what started your hatred in the first place?
Prompt B:
Sometimes the only way to end hatred is to make people see the consequences of their actions.
I really like how you incorporated the dispute between the Montagues and the Capulets in your questions. Do you think that their peace will last? And I liked how you gave a really precise theme and I would be interested to see what image you would have chosen with it.
ReplyDeleteLeah, I really like how descriptive and well thought out your questions are. I was also wondering if the Capulets and Montagues' peace will last. Also, I like how your theme is very simple, but descriptive, it definitely wraps up the whole scene.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I love the pun in the title. For your first question on Prompt B, I think the reason why Romeo has that burst of happiness is because he realizes that he will be with Juliet in death, and for question 2, I'm pretty sure that I read that Romeo had to break his way into the closed off vault in some way.
ReplyDeleteLeah, I don't think the truce between the Montagues and the Capulets will not last because sooner or later their sadness will turn into bitterness and they will blame each other for what happened.
ReplyDeleteLeah, I like prompt B because because it shows how the two families stopped hating each other only when they saw their love ones dead
