1.2 Mistakenly Invited

Prompt A: Summary
Paris is hoping to marry Juliet, Lord Capulet's daughter, and tells him of this. Lord Capulet is skeptical about marrying Juliet off since she is not even fourteen, but after Paris brings up the fact that there are even younger mothers in Verona, he agrees that it will be Juliet's decision if she wants to marry Paris. He tells Paris to come to his feast and provides his illiterate servant with a list of people to invite that night. Romeo is discussing his feelings for Rosaline with Benvolio when the servant asks Romeo if he will read the list of invitations. To thank Romeo, the servant invites them to the feast, unaware of the fact that they are Montagues.

Prompt B: Theme
The theme of this scene is that love comes when you least expect it.

Prompt C: Questions
Lord Capulet- Why do you think that girls who marry earlier are "marred" too soon?
Paris- Why doesn't the age difference matter you?
Romeo- How will you get into the Capulet house if you are a Montague?
Romeo- Are you going in hopes of seeing Rosaline?
Benvolio- Why do you want to attend the Capulet party?

  3. Sasha, you did a really nice job doing your summary for this scene. Many people make their summaries too long so it is no longer a summary, however you added just the specifics that we needed to know. Great job!

  4. I like how quick and to the point your summary was, other people seemed to have used a lot of redundancy in their summaries.
