Prompt G: Diary
Dear Thy Diary,
I must say that today has been a bad day for thy. What doesn't Rosaline love me? I got everything! The
good looks, the muscles, and the personality. I'd rather die than face this situation! It must be my family and
the Capulets. Why does thou Capulets must trigger such feud against the Montagues? This must be the main
reason why she doesn't love me! If I were my father, I would settle this feud and stop the fight. Only then
will I ever have a chance to get with Rosaline.
Prompt A: Summary
The story starts off in Fair Verona where two guards are talking about the feud between the Montagues and
Capulets. The House of Montague Servants comes closer and the two guards discuss how to trigger a fight
between them. One of the guards bite his thumb, an insulting gesture, which triggers a small fight. Benvolio,
the nephew of Lord Montague, draws his sword in an attempt to stop the fight. Thybalt, the nephew of Lord
Capulet, draws his sword and the two also start fighting. Lord Montague and Lord Capulet also enter but
their wives prevent them from fighting. Prince Escalus enters the stage to ultimately break up the fight. He
also notes that anybody who breaks the peace will have severe consequences. Lady Montague questions
where Romeo is and Benvolio finds him alone. Romeo is sad because the love of his life, Rosaline, does not
love him back and sworn a life of a virgin. Benvolio tries to tell Romeo to ultimately forget her.
Daniel, I really liked your questions. Even tough they were casual, they made me think and created some new questions of my own
ReplyDeleteDaniel,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the usage of "thy" in your diary in an attempt to use Old English to sound like Romeo. The reason that Rosaline does not like Romeo is because she took a vow of chastity and will never be married to a man. The bad spacing in your blog is very distracting.
Daniel, I liked how you used words like "thy" and "thou" in your diary entry. It made it seem more realistic. Also, I like how detailed and thought-provoking your questions are, especially the one concerning Benvolio.
ReplyDeleteDaniel, I really liked how you got into character in your diary entries, by imitating the language of Shakespeare. You also made it really easy to tell whose diary it was without actually having to say that it was Romeo's diary entry by putting in lots of Romeo's emotion.
